Is Wali a mobile app?
Not yet. Wali is a web app, which means you use it through your browser. Nothing to download, no app store updates, and it works the same on every device you sign in from. A native iPhone and Android app is on the roadmap.
Why not just keep my pet's records in Google Drive or iCloud?
A folder full of PDFs can store records. It can't do what Wali does with them. Wali pulls the vaccine names, dates, and expirations out of each document, builds a timeline you can actually read at a glance, and turns the whole picture into a shareable certificate that pet care professionals recognize. You also get reminders before vaccines expire, so you're not the one tracking dates in your head or scrolling through last year's emails. A folder is a graveyard for documents. Wali is a record you actually use.
Will my vet, groomer, or boarder accept the Wali certificate?
Yes. Every Wali certificate includes the issuing clinic name, vaccine details, administration dates, expiration dates, and a link back to the source document you uploaded. Pet care professionals can verify the underlying records in one click, which is the same standard they use for any third-party documentation.
What happens to my pet's records if I cancel?
Your records stay accessible for 30 days after you cancel, in case you change your mind or need to grab anything before they're gone. During that window, you can download individual records and any shareable certificates you've already created. After 30 days, your records are permanently deleted from our system. You'll get a reminder email before that happens.
Is my pet's data private and secure?
Yes. All data is encrypted at rest and in transit. We don't sell your information, and we don't share your pet's records with anyone unless you choose to share them yourself. When you generate a shareable certificate or send a record to a vet or boarder, that's the only time your data leaves your account, and you control exactly what's included.
What is "Smart Document Scanning"?
Take a photo of or upload a paper vaccine record, a printed clinic invoice, or an emailed PDF. Wali reads the document, pulls out the vaccine name, the date it was given, and the expiration date, and adds it to your pet's timeline automatically. No typing. No transcribing. If something doesn't look right, you can edit any field before saving.
Can I add records from before I signed up for Wali?
Yes, and this is one of the most common ways pet owners get started. Upload old paper records, screenshots from your vet's patient portal, PDFs from adoption paperwork, anything you have. Wali builds the full timeline backward, so you can see your pet's complete medical history in one place from day one.
Can I share access with my partner, dog walker, or pet sitter?
You can share specific records and certificates with anyone via a secure link. They don't need a Wali account to view what you send them.
What if I switch vets?
This is the problem Wali was built to solve. When you switch vets, your records go with you. Your new clinic gets a clean handoff with full medical history, vaccine timelines, and any documents your previous vet provided. You're not waiting on phone calls or faxes between offices. You're not starting over. The history is yours, and it moves with you.
What if I'm adopting a pet from a rescue?
If the rescue you're adopting from uses Wali, the pet's medical history transfers to you the moment the adoption is finalized. No paperwork lost in the shuffle, no missing vaccine dates, no calling the rescue six months later asking for records. If your rescue doesn't use Wali yet, send them our way. Wali is free for rescues, always.
Does Wali work for cats and other pets, or just dogs?
Wali works for any pet with medical records: dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, reptiles, and more. If your pet has a vet, Wali can track them.
